Gov. Hochul: Sign 1-Yr Data Center Ban Into Law!

The data centers built to power AI use huge amounts of energy and water, speeding climate change and increasing air pollution while also driving already high utility prices up even further for all New Yorkers.

In the final days of session in early June, the New York State Legislature came together to pass a one-year moratorium on building any big new data centers in the state.

Now we must convince business-friendly, environment-weak Governor Kathy Hochul to sign the Responsible Data Center Development Act into law rather than vetoing the bill. Given that Governor Hochul hijacked the state budget to effectively gut New York’s critical Climate Law, her signature on this bill is by no means a done deal. She needs to hear from YOU!
